~ Dave Whitaker ~

Hey, thanks for visiting OTL. I've lived in Naperville for 15 years and lately have spent too much time on my own block. Now I’m getting out to explore the “Thrill” through its people and their stories. I hope these occasional lunch adventures help you feel more connected as well. Perhaps it will inspire you to eat local for lunch when you can.

Quick backstory. My first real job was entertainment writer/editor for a chain of suburban newspapers. Theater reviews, artist interviews, a column highlighting fun things to do. With others I later started StreetWise, the Chicago newspaper sold by homeless people. I’ve ghostwritten several books and have written a few of my own, including Live from FitzGerald’s: Songs and Stories of an American Music Club and Cabrini Green in Words and Pictures. In recent years I led marketing content and corporate communications for a hospitality supplier, and I continue to collaborate with partners as a business writer, content strategist, and brand builder.

But what matters most right now? Naperville and its people – the people who help make this town one of the best places to live (according to those annual lists). Thanks again for reading and for sharing with your friends and family. See you at lunch.
